Taxidermy with a twist…

Lisa Black does some fairly awesome things with dead animals.  Honestly, I wish I’d thought of this first and had the necessary skills to do it to this effect.

‘Fixed - Fawn’

‘Fixed - Baby Crocodile’  - This one has moving gears and actually walks.  Creepsome.
I’ve been tinkering with a steam-punk story for a while now, and […]

“I don’t know, but it’s probably worth seeing.”

Ankle Piercing

‘Mr. Tetanus, a performance artist, wears a self-made 10mm spike through his ankle, behind the Achilles tendon, and has had it now for about twelve years. In the picture you can see it now, as well as a photo looking through the hole and showing the displacement of the tendon. He doesn’t take it out […]

Character Concept

I don’t condone this at all, but it’s an amazing photo and a great springboard for a character someday.

Pieter Hugo won first prize in the single portrait category in 2006 for this photo of Malla Gahadima Ahamadu with the hyena Jamis, Abuja, Nigeria.

Tattoos might be the best way to deliver a cancer vaccine

‘If you’ve ever considered getting a tattoo, it’s probably for aesthetic purposes. That’s all well and good, but in the near future getting a tattoo might be the best way to deliver vaccines, so if you go in for a new ink job you could also protect yourself from any number of diseases, including some […]

Unblinking eyes… they watch us

Talking CCTV cameras started popping up on newsites a few months back, and one was installed more recently (and mocked because, hey, some guy a mile away is telling you off through a camera.  It just asks for mocking.) but now they’re really being rolled out.

‘The disembodied voices of authority offering advice and warnings that […]

Insane (Brilliant?) Weapons of War

We all knew about anti-tank dogs, but there’s so much more.

I’m torn between the killer dolphins and exploding bats, myself.
I read about the dolphins a while back.  When they were trained and finally put into the ocean, they all buggered off.  Gotta love an animal that’s about as smart as you.
