There’s now a whole section in WH Smiths in town dubbed ‘Tragic Life Stories’, 80% of which is child abuse. What the hell is the reading world coming to? Why the fascination that is now so lucrative, there’s a section as large as ‘Travel’ dedicated to it?

This is a really good opportunity for writers of short stories that have not previously been published. Here’s the info:
Jasmine Cottage Publishing are looking for donations of original, previously unpublished short stories for inclusion in a forthcoming book, MS Talent: Volume 2.
MS Talent: Volume 2 is scheduled for publication in November 2008 and is likely […]

I’ve been writing for the public forum for going on eleven years now, and I’ve had my fair share of flames - feedback that doesn’t have the remotest glimmer of positive in it. It’s interesting how often people will quietly move on if they read something they like, but will then sit and spend the […]

Aww, look at the puppy. Baby Harvey…
Thought that would get your attention. I know how you work, internet… It’s cute animals or boobs.
So, I’m finally making a post about the conference on Saturday.
It took a while to find the place and it turned out to be one of the smaller campuses of the John Moores […]

Here’s me with the big cardboard Wall E at our local CineWorld, generally looking like a bit of a dork. I have come to embrace them after they drove the cinema I worked at out of business. It’s because of reasons such as this.

1. Link to the person that tagged you - the blueblog - CHECK
2. Post […]

<– This is, allegedly, ‘the’ seminal book on transgression. Published in 1986, this is the big daddy to read if you want to understand the theory behind this kind of literature. I trawled around on the web for a week hunting down this very-much-out-of-print book and found prices ranging from £45 up to £150… […]

This is Harvey, as he was two years ago.
At this point, I was trundling along in a Creative Writing degree having just taken it up as a single rather than a joint, and had a fuzzy idea of what I wanted to do with said degree. So, I picked up poetry and playwriting […]

My degree is officially finished as I handed in the last assignment this morning, and after weeks of nervously clinging to the short stories and proofreading until the screen is a smear, I’ve sent that off too.
Only thing left that I have to do this month is write the paper for the Oceans of Short […]
