Overpriced, much?
<– This is, allegedly, ‘the’ seminal book on transgression. Published in 1986, this is the big daddy to read if you want to understand the theory behind this kind of literature. I trawled around on the web for a week hunting down this very-much-out-of-print book and found prices ranging from £45 up to £150… I managed to find it from a private seller for £30 and had it shipped over. It arrived today, and I had been looking forward to seeing it. For £150, I expected this behemoth of a book that was as thick as it was wide and with, I dunno, gold edging or something.
The damn thing’s about an inch thick, and I’m happy with what I did pay for it. If I had coughed up £150 (which I do not have) I’d have been extremely disappointed with it.
Flicking through it, it’s a chewy book that’s of that breed where you need to read every paragraph three or four times to decipher what it’s talking about. I’m hoping to get through it in the next fortnight before the conference and see if there’s anything in there to jazz up my paper with.
Otherwise, this is going to be absolutely fantastic for the next four years of uni.
