Reflection
This is Harvey, as he was two years ago.

At this point, I was trundling along in a Creative Writing degree having just taken it up as a single rather than a joint, and had a fuzzy idea of what I wanted to do with said degree. So, I picked up poetry and playwriting so I’d be more generally clued in for the lecturing thing and struggled on with that. Did okay. Enjoyed some of it. Some of it, not so much.
This is Harvey now.

I’ve technically finished my degree, and it’s gone even better than I could have hoped. I’ve loved the last year and I’ve found the side of prose that I want to specialise in: transgressive fiction (if that wasn’t already apparent from this site’s content). I’ve had a manuscript accepted; I’ve submitted a short story collection; I’m presenting a paper at the Oceans of Short Stories conference in Liverpool next month and I’m kicking around something new already.
I’m absolutely loving it all and having so much fun. It’s too easy to bitch and complain about life. Every now and then, it’s good to take stock of the things you’re really pleased with.
Also, I have a very cute labradoodle. ^_^
