Memoirs of The Messed Up Minds
by Brandon Wilkinson

This is a dizzy collection of sharp, witty and certainly edgy short stories, covering a range of ideas and themes. There’s an undeniable humanity in every character, whether we like them or loathe them, so when Brandon puts them (or us) through the wringer, we really feel it. The ‘chatty’, laid back style does wonders for accessibility, and in conjunction with the chapter breaks it makes it a very easy book to dive in and out of.
Undoubtedly my favourite story was ‘The Crap Shoot’, where a writer adopts the position of a homeless man to hoover up the stories around him. Wait, actually, ‘Burning With Silence’ is my favourite - a tough and emotional read that’s absolutely riveting and very real. Oh damnit, I don’t know which one’s my favourite, okay ?
Brandon’s second book is coming out in the next few months.
