‘Hatume’ was the first story I ever had published, and was the one that started me in the direction of transgressive writing.  In a mix of sci-fi and bizarro, Hatume is a narcotic hamster blood smoking security chief on a station at the arse-end of space, screwing on her prissy subordinates and letting the little crimes slide for the sake of peace.  It sits alongside a great collection of prose and poetry from the students at the University of Gloucester.
